Hi there! I'm Janel, a natural light on-location photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In 2008, I was a Junior at Marist College in Upstate New York when a co-worker from my internship had her maternity photographer cancel on her last minute. She was due in a week and in a pinch for a photographer for a maternity session before the baby came. Knowing I was taking a few photography classes in college, she figured she'd ask me. That was the day that Purely Jane Photography was born.

I wasn't sure about the phototshoot at first (after all, at 21 years old what the heck did I know about maternity portraits?!) but my friend had a lot of ideas and to be honest as a college student, I needed the money! So I went for it.
The word spread and as I entered my mid to late 20's Purely Jane Photography grew naturally as lots of friends and family members began getting engaged and starting families. I've always had a passion for all types of photography - it runs in my family - but I never intended to be in the newborn, maternity and family space. In the end I've found that I absolutely love capturing peoples special life moments and have enjoyed keeping Purely Jane Photography alive over the years.
My style is simple and I like to use whats available. A shoot can be done at your home, or at one of the many awesome outdoor locations around the San Francisco Bay Area.
